The Norristown Fire Department was dispatched to the 800 Blk of Cherry Street for a house fire. When they arrived they found fire in the rear of 840 Cherry St and screams for help coming from inside. Firefighters Lee and DeMino were able to locate an elderly man in the basement and lead him to safety. The man was then flown to a city trauma unit for his injuries. Firefighters from Plymouth, East Norriton, Whitpain, Swedeland and Barren Hill assisted in bringing the fire under control in about 20 minutes.
